  • 4 large tart apples
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. butter
  • 1/2 no roll pie pastry

    Pare apples, cut in eighths and arrange in a 9-inch pastry-lined pie pan.

    Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar mixed with cinnamon.

    Sift remaining 1/2 cup sugar with flour.

    Cut in butter until crumbly.

    Sprinkle over apples.

    Bake in hot oven (450°) for 10 minutes.

    Then in moderate oven (350°) for about 40 minutes, until apples are tender.
