  • 4 large, tart apples
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. butter
  • 9-inch pastry lined pan

    Pare apples.

    Cut in slices and arrange in pastry lined pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar mixed with the cinnamon.

    Sift remaining 1/2 cup sugar with flour. Cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.

    Bake in hot oven at 450° for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° and bake about 40 more minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm or cool.
