Ingredients

  • Pastry for 2-crust pie
  • 7 medium tart apples, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • chopped nuts, if desired.

Directions

    Cut a 15 in. circle of heavy foil, or use a pizza pan.

    Make pastry for 2 crust pie.

    Roll out on foil to fit circle; crimp edges as for pie.

    Overlap apple slices on top of pastry, covering completely.

    Combine 1/2 c. sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and sprinkle over apples.

    Combine flour, 1/2 c. sugar and margarine till crumbly.

    Sprinkle on top of apples.

    Add chopped nuts, if desired.

    Bake at 450° for 20-25 minutes until crust is brown and apples tender.

    Top with ice cream if desired.
