- 6 large Granny Smith apples
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- pastry dough for 2 (2 crust) pies (4 crusts)
- 4 c. water
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°.

2Peel and core apples.

3Roll out dough to 1/4-inch.

4Cut into 6 squares.

5Place 1 apple on each square. Sprinkle apples with cinnamon.

6Place butter and brown sugar into centers of pastry dough to overlap on top of apples.

7Place in greased 13 x 9-inch pan.

8Heat water, sugar and vanilla to rolling boil.

9Pour over apple dumplings.

10Bake 40 to 45 minutes.

11Serve warm with cream.
