- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 5 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. milk
- 6 apples
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients; mix shortening in until it is of a consistency of coarse meal.

2Add milk gradually, mixing with fork, to a soft dough.

3Roll on floured board or waxed paper 1/8-inch thick.

4Cut into squares.

5Place apple (or peach) in center of dough square.

6Apples having been washed, peeled and cored.

7Fill center with sugar and small pat of butter.

8Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bring up 4 corners of dough; press together firmly.

9Place on greased pan and sprinkle lightly with sugar and cinnamon.

10Bake in 400° oven for 40 minutes or until nicely browned.

11Use sugar and spice according to taste, more or less.
