  • 5 Delicious apples
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. butter-flavor shortening
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

    Peel, core and halve apples.

    Set aside.

    In a medium bowl, mix together flour and salt.

    Cut in shortening.

    Pour in milk. Stir until mixture resembles pie crust dough.

    With a spoon, remove 1/2 cup dough.

    Roll out on a floured surface until 1/8-inch thick.

    Carefully wrap around 1 apple half, folding dough in an overlapping fashion.

    Place seam side down, in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking pan.

    Repeat with remaining dough and apple halves.
