  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 4 cups cooking apples, thinly sliced and peeled
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1-1/2 cup water
  • 1-1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • margarine

    For dough: Combine, in a med.

    bowl, egg and sour cream.

    In a small bowl stir together flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to sour cream mix.

    Mix well.

    On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a 12-inch square.

    Spread apples atop.

    In a small bowl combine 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg; sprinkle atop apples.

    Carefully roll up dough.

    Cut into twelve 1-inch slices.

    Place slices, cut side down, in a greased 13x9-inch baking pan.

    Stir together water, brown sugar, 1 cup sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice; pour over slices in pan.

    Dot with butter.

    Bake, uncovered, at 350F for 35-40 minutes or until golden.
