  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c. diced apples
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and vanilla.

    Beat well. Mix apples.

    Sift together flour, soda and spices.

    Blend into batter.

    Bake in 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.

    Serve warm with whipped cream or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
