Apple-Nut Cake

- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. mace
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 c. chopped apples
- 2 c. chopped walnuts
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

2Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Mix and sift flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and mace.

4Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture.

5Stir in vanilla, apples and walnuts.

6Batter will be stiff.

7Spoon into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake in moderately slow 325° oven for 1 1/2 hours.

8Let cool in pan on rack for 10 minutes.

9Remove cake from pan; place right side up on rack to complete cooling.
