- 1 c. margarine
- 1 c. white sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 3 c. flour
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 c. chopped apples
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Mix margarine, sugars, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg together as for pie crust.

2Set aside 1 cup for topping.

3Add baking powder, salt and soda to mixture and mix well.

4Add 2 eggs and buttermilk. Beat.

5Stir in chopped apples.

6Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch cake pan.

7Mix chopped nuts in with reserved topping and sprinkle over batter.

8Bake at 300° for 1 hour.

9(If using two 9-inch round cake pans, bake at 350° for 25 minutes.)
