Apple Pan Bread Recipe

  • 1 c. All purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 x Egg
  • 2 1/2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1/4 c. Soft vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 c. Sugar
  • 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 c. Raisin bran flakes
  • 2 c. Cooking apples, pared and
  • 2/3 c. Lowfat milk thinly sliced

    Sift together flour, baking pwdr, salt and 1/4 c. sugar.

    Set aside.

    Combine bran flakes and lowfat milk, add in egg and shortening; beat well.

    Add in sifted dry ingredients; stir only till blended, but don't beat.

    Spread in a greased 8x8x2 inch pan.

    Mix together 1/2 c. sugar and 1/2 ts cinnamon.

    Dip apple slices in mix; arrange on top of batter.

    Sprinkle any remaining sugar mix over apple slices.

    Bake at 400 about 30 min.

    Cut in squares and serve hot.
