- 3 medium baking apples, peeled and thinly sliced (such as Braeburn or Empire)
- 3 medium ripe pears, peeled and thinly sliced (such as Bosc)
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Topping
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- 1/3 cup finely chopped walnuts
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine, softened
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease a 13x9-inch baking pan. In a large bowl, mix apples, pears, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour into the prepared baking pan, spreading evenly.

2Topping: In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit mixture. Bake until the fruit is tender and the topping is golden, 40-45 minutes. Let cool until just warm, then serve.
