- 1 qt. thin apple slices
- 3/4 to 1 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 recipe plain pastry
- 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
Directions

1Line 10-inch pie pan with plain pastry.

2Peel, core and slice about 1 1/2 pounds of apples.

3This should make 1 quart of apple slices.

4Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt and cinnamon.

5Cover bottom of crust with thin layer of sugar mixture.

6Fill crust with apple slices and pour rest of sugar mixture over apples.

7Dot with butter.

8(If apples are not tart, sprinkle juice of half a lemon over pie before adding top crust.)

9Adjust top crust and prick with a fork.

10Bake at 400° for 50 minutes.
