- pastry for 2 crust pie for 9-inch pie pan
- 6 to 8 tart cooking apples (Empire or McIntosh)
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 1/2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. butter
Directions

1Wash, core, peel and thinly slice apples.

2Brush slices with lemon juice.

3Toss apple slices with a mixture of the sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt.

4Fill pastry shell with apple mixture and dot with butter.

5Cover apples with second pastry.

6Prick top crust with fork.

7Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.

8Reduce heat to 350° and bake about 40 minutes longer.
