- 2 (9-inch) pie crusts
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- dash of salt
- 6 c. thinly sliced Granny Smith apples
- 2 Tbsp. margarine or butter
Directions

1Heat oven to 425°.

2Prepare pastry.

3Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt.

4Stir in apples.

5Turn into pastry lined pie plate.

6Dot with margarine.

7Cover with top crust that has slits cut in it; seal and flute.

8Cover edge with 3 inch strips of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning; remove foil during last 15 minutes of baking.

9Bake until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust, 40 to 50 minutes.

10Makes 6 servings.
