  • 6 qt. sliced apples
  • 1 1/2 c. Clear Jel
  • 2 1/2 c. cold water
  • 3/4 c. bottled lemon juice
  • 7 drops yellow food coloring (optional)
  • 5 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 5 c. apple juice
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tsp. ascorbic acid or 6 tablets ascorbic acid (500 mg Vitamin C)

Directions

    Wash, peel and core apples.

    Prepare slices 1/2-inch wide and place in 1 gallon water containing 1 level teaspoon ascorbic acid or 6 tablets (500 milligrams Vitamin C) to prevent browning.
