  • 4 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. cornstarch
  • 2 or 3 Tbsp. food coloring
  • 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 5 1/2 to 6 qt. sliced apples

Directions

    In a saucepan, blend sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch and salt. Stir in 10 cups water. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Add lemon juice and coloring. Pour over apples

    that have been packed in jars, leaving 1-inch cook space. Seal and boil in hot water bath for 20 to 30 minutes.
