- 1/4 c. margarine or butter
- 3/4 c. onion, finely chopped
- 5 c. firmly packed finely shredded red cabbage
- juice of 2 lemons
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 c. thinly sliced pared apples
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
Directions

1In a large saucepan or skillet, gently cook the onion in the hot margarine until golden.

2Add remaining ingredients.

3Cover and cook gently, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender. Taste and correct the sweet-sour taste.

4Serve hot.

5Makes about 6 servings.
