  • 4 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 3 c. cooked rice
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar, divided
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 6 Tbsp. butter or oleo
  • 1/2 c. pecans or walnuts, chopped

Directions

    Combine apples, rice, lemon juice, 1/4 cup brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in large bowl.

    Spoon into 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking dish.

    Mix flour and remaining brown sugar, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.

    Stir in nuts and sprinkle over apple/rice mixture. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm, plain or topped with ice cream.
