- 6 to 8 medium apples
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 to 3/4 c. milk
- 1 egg, well beaten
- shortening (to fry)
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Peel the apples; with an apple corer, remove the core, leaving apple whole.

2Slice the apple crosswise in rings about 1/2-inch thick.

3Make a batter with the flour, milk, sugar, egg and vanilla.

4Use enough milk to make the batter thick enough to cling to the apple slices.

5Dip each apple ring in the batter and place in hot shortening.

6Fry until brown on both sides and apple is tender. Drain on paper towels.

7Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
