Apple Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 6 Tbsp. shortening
  • 6 to 8 apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar

Directions

    Mix flour, baking powder, salt and shortening as for pie crust.

    Add milk and mix.

    Roll out about 1/4-inch thick on floured surface.

    Spread apples over dough.

    Sprinkle with cinnamon and 1/4 cup sugar.

    Roll up as for jelly roll.

    Cut into 12 slices and place in a 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Boil 1 1/2 cups sugar and 2 cups water.

    Pour over rolls.

    Bake at 375° until brown. Serve with whipped cream.
