- 6 large braeburn apples, cored, peeled, and sliced (Granny Smith apples)
- 3 cups very coarse breadcrumbs, toasted (or small bread cubes, toasted)
- 12 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 12 cup white sugar
- 12 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 12 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 14 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 18 teaspoon salt
- vanilla ice cream
Directions

1Place the apples in a lightly greased medium slow cooker.

2In a large bowl gently toss together the bread crumbs, butter, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

3Evenly spread over the apple slices.

4Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours.

5Uncover and let stand for 15 minutes before serving warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
