  • 6 large braeburn apples, cored, peeled, and sliced (Granny Smith apples)
  • 3 cups very coarse breadcrumbs, toasted (or small bread cubes, toasted)
  • 12 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 12 cup white sugar
  • 12 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 12 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 14 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 18 teaspoon salt
  • vanilla ice cream

Directions

    Place the apples in a lightly greased medium slow cooker.

    In a large bowl gently toss together the bread crumbs, butter, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

    Evenly spread over the apple slices.

    Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours.

    Uncover and let stand for 15 minutes before serving warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
