  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 c. regular oats (uncooked)
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped, peeled apple
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • sifted powdered sugar

Directions

    Cream shortening. Add 1 cup sugar, beating well. Add eggs, beating well. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and spices in a medium mixing bowl. Gradually add to creamed mixture, stirring well. Stir in oats, apple, raisins and pecans, mixing well. Press mixture into a greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into 2 x 1-inch bars. Yield: about 6 dozen.
