- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 3 medium apples, pared and sliced
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- whipped cream
Directions

1In a 9 x 9-inch pan, melt 2 tablespoons butter.

2Spread 1/2 cup brown sugar in bottom of pan.

3Sprinkle with pecans and arrange apple slices on top.

4Cover with lemon juice and set aside.

5Cream 1/2 cup butter and remaining sugars until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.

6Sift together remaining dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk.

7Spread batter over apples.

8Bake at 375° for 45 minutes.

9Place on cooling rack 10 minutes, then turn upside-down on plate and top with whipped cream.
