  • 2 c. light brown sugar, tightly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 2 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 2 c. raisins

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs singly, beating well. Add dry ingredients alternately with applesauce.

    Add raisins. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes.
