  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 2 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 2 Tbsp. corn syrup
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Beat in eggs.

    Add flour, soda, salt and spices.

    Combine applesauce and syrup; add to butter mixture. Fold in nuts.

    Pour batter into 2 greased 8 x 8-inch pans.

    Bake at 300° for about 1 hour.
