  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. applesauce
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts

Directions

    Mix the applesauce and baking soda together in separate bowls. Cream shortening and sugar together.

    Blend in applesauce and baking soda mixture.

    Stir in raisins, then dry ingredients and nuts.

    Turn into greased and floured square baking pan.

    Bake at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes.
