- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 1/2 c. canned applesauce
- 1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
- 1 c. raisins (optional)
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease and flour baking pan, 13 x 9-inch, or 2 round, or paper-lined cupcake tins.

3Measure all ingredients into a large mixer bowl.

4Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly.

5Beat 3 minutes on high speed.

6Pour into pan(s). Bake oblong pan 60 to 65 minutes and layers for 50 to 55 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

7Cool and frost.
