  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 qt. sweetened applesauce
  • 4 c. flour (self-rising)
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. nuts
  • 1 box raisins
  • 1 box chopped dates

Directions

    Cream together shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs, then applesauce.

    Add flour and spices; mix well.

    Add vanilla.

    Add nuts, raisins and dates.

    Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake for 1 1/2 hours in a 325° oven.
