  • 2 tsp. cloves
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 pinches of salt
  • 2 c. applesauce
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. nuts

Directions

    Mix soda with applesauce; set aside.

    Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs.

    Beat well.

    Add applesauce mixture and remaining dry ingredients which have been sifted together.

    Add nuts; bake in greased and floured angel food cake pan for about 1 hour at 350°.
