Applesauce Jam Cake

  • 2 sticks margarine (soft)
  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. jam
  • 3 c. applesauce
  • 4 tsp. soda
  • 4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt, cloves and allspice
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. pecans
  • 1 c. raisins

    Cream butter, sugar and eggs; beat well after each egg.

    Add jam.

    Sift all dry ingredients together; sift several times.

    Add a little to nuts and raisins.

    Add to dry ingredients, then add to butter mixture, then applesauce and vanilla.

    Fold in nuts and raisins.

    Bake in tube pan at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.

    Use your favorite icing.
