- 3/4 c. shortening (oleo)
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 (12 oz.) jar apricot jam
- 2 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/3 c. coconut
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar; mix well.

2Add egg and mix thoroughly.

3Add flour and baking powder.

4Add coconut, walnuts and vanilla; mix well.

5Press 2/3 of dough into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Spread with jam and sprinkle remainder of dough over the top.

6Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

7Cool in pan and cut into squares. Makes 36 squares.
