- 1/2 lb. or 10 dates, cut small
- 3 1/2 c. apricots, drained
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 3/4 c. melted shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 c. oatmeal
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cook dates, apricots, 1/3 cup brown sugar and water until thickens.

2Set aside to cool slightly.

3Next, blend together and hold shortening and 1 cup brown sugar.

4Sift and mix flour and soda.

5Mix in oatmeal and vanilla to flour and soda.

6Work these into sugar mixture, then spread 1/2 oatmeal crumb mixture into 8 x 8-inch pan.

7Add fruit mixture and top with remaining crumbs.

8Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
