Asparagus Surprise Casserole

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 to 1 1/2 lb. fresh asparagus
  • 1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cans mushroom soup
  • instant potatoes

Directions

    Brown meat and onion.

    Add seasonings.

    Spoon into 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Cover with asparagus, then cheese.

    Spoon soup over layer. Heat 2 1/2 cups water and 2 cups milk until hot, not boiling.

    Add butter, salt and pepper to taste.

    Spoon over casserole.

    Sprinkle a few dry instant flakes on top.

    Bake 1 hour at 375°.
