- 1 c. mashed potatoes
- 1 c. milk
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 5 1/2 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Scald milk and dissolve shortening in it.

2Strain mashed potatoes through sieve into milk; let cool.

3Beat egg in large bowl; add sugar, salt and milk mixture.

4Then add dry yeast, which has been dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water.

5Add 1 cup flour at a time, mixing well.

6Rub top of bread and sides of bowl with shortening and let rise in warm place until double in size (about an hour).

7Punch down and shape half of dough into 36 small balls. Put 3 balls into each cup of 12-cup muffin tin.

8Let rise again for about an hour, then bake in 375° oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
