  • 1/2 lb bacon, cooked until crisp, drained and crumbled (pre-cooked weight)
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup oats
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 4 -5 apples, peeled, cored and sliced into 1/4 inch thick pieces
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

    In a medium bowl, mix bacon, cheese, flour, oats and 1/3 cup of the brown sugar. Thoroughly mix in melted butter.

    Place apple slices in a 1.5- to 2-quart casserole. Toss with lemon juice, cinnamon and remaining 1/3 cup brown sugar.

    Spread topping on apples.

    Bake at 375 for 40-50 minutes, or until apples are tender. Allow to cool for at least 20-30 minutes before serving. Refrigerate leftovers.
