- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- 3/4 c. sugar per lb. beans
- diced ham or bacon
- 1/4 c. molasses
- diced onion
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Soak beans overnight.

2Sprinkle the soda over beans.

3Boil for 10 minutes, skimming off foam.

4Drain 1/2 water off; cover with warm water.

5Add 3/4 cup sugar per pound of beans.

6Add diced ham or bacon, the molasses, diced onion, ginger, salt and pepper. Bake at 300° for 8 hours, or use slow cooker.
