Ingredients
- 16 oz. dried kidney beans
- 1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. barbecue sauce
- 4 beef bouillon cubes
- season to taste with salt, pepper, garlic powder and hot sauce
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 carrot, minced
- 2 stalks celery, minced
Directions

1Prepare 2 days ahead.

2Wash and soak beans overnight.

3Change water and refill with water until approximately 1-inch over beans. Add bouillon cubes to water; simmer gently until just tender (approximately 2 hours).

4In a separate skillet, saute onion, carrot and celery in 2 tablespoons bacon fat until tender.

5Add to beans.

6Add remaining ingredients.

7Simmer an additional 30 minutes.

8Cool and refrigerate.

9Next day, in a covered casserole dish, bake for 2 hours at 350°.

10Serve hot.
