Baked Empanada

Ingredients
- 2 c. all purpose flour
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 egg
- mixture of 1 egg yolk + 2 Tbsp. milk for brushing top
Directions

1Sift flour, salt and sugar in a bowl.

2Cut in margarine using a pastry blender or dough cutter.

3Add water and one egg. Blend until smooth.

4Form into a ball and knead for a few minutes. Roll out on a floured board until you reach the desired thickness. Cut into rounds or squares and place a spoonful of filling (see below) in the middle.

5Fold pastry and seal with the tine of a fork. Using the fork, prick the empanada twice on top.

6Brush the tops with the egg yolk and milk mixture.

7Place on a greased pan with oil and dusted with flour (or use a teflon baking pan) and bake for 30-45 minutes at 325° or until golden brown.
