- 1/3 c. uncooked short grain rice
- 1 qt. milk (4 c.)
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg or 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
Directions

1Preheat oven to 300°. Sprinkle rice evenly over bottom of buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Mix milk and sugar.

2Pour over rice; sprinkle with nutmeg and dot with butter.

3Bake, uncovered, for 2 1/2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes for first 1 1/2 hours. Serve warm if you like, topped with cream.
