- 4 1/2 c. walnuts, ground
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 lb. phyllo dough
- 1 lb. butter, melted
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Butter a 15 x 10 x 1 1/2-inch jelly roll pan.

3In a large bowl combine walnuts, 1 1/2 cups sugar and cinnamon.

4Lay 1 sheet phyllo in pan; brush with butter.

5Repeat until 1/2 of phyllo is used.

6Sprinkle with walnut mixture. Repeat phyllo layers with butter.

7Using a sharp knife, cut halfway through layers of phyllo.

8Bake in oven 1 1/4 hours or until deep golden brown.

9Meanwhile, in a medium-size saucepan, heat water and 1 1/2 cups sugar over medium heat to boiling, stirring frequently.

10Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.

11Stir in lemon juice.

12Remove from heat.

13Cool.

14Spoon over Baklava.

15Let stand 4 hours before cutting.
