Ingredients

  • 6 firm bananas
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 c. cornstarch
  • 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. cream (evaporated milk)
  • 1 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 2 c. vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp. honey

Directions

    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream the butter, egg and milk together. Add to dry ingredients, stirring only until moistened.

    Peel bananas. Cut in 1 1/2-inch lengths.

    Dip into batter, spreading batter evenly over bananas. Fry in hot deep fat at 370° for 3 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towel and serve with honey.
