  • 2/3 c. butter or Crisco, creamed
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1 c. mashed bananas
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. sour cream or sour milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 egg whites, beaten until stands in peaks

    Cream first 4 ingredients.

    Sift together flour, soda and salt.

    Add flour mixture, sour cream and vanilla to creamed ingredients.

    Mix well.

    Fold in beaten egg whites.

    Bake in two 9-inch layers or a 13 x 9-inch cake pan.

    Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes.

    Frost with Buttercream or Cream Cheese Frosting.
