- 3 lb. chuck roast
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
- 3/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. chopped celery
- 2 c. catsup
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Brown trimmed meat in shortening.

2Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.

3When meat is tender enough (approximately 2 to 3 hours), use 2 forks to shred or pull apart the meat.

4Continue cooking until the meat is very tender (cooking time can vary from 3 to 6 hours).

5Serve alone or on buns. Serves 12.
