Barbecue Beef Shortribs

Ingredients
- 3 to 4 lb. beef shortribs with bone
- 1 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 2 1/2 c. water, divided
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1 c. ketchup
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 c. vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- hot cooked noodles (optional)
Directions

1In a Dutch oven, brown ribs in oil.

2Add 2 cups water; bring to a boil.

3Reduce heat.

4Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Drain.

5Combine the tomato paste, ketchup, garlic, brown sugar, onion, vinegar, mustard, salt and remaining water; mix well.

6Pour over the ribs.

7Bring to a boil.

8Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender.

9Serve over noodles, if desired.
