Ingredients
- 3 lb. rump steak
- 6 slices bacon
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 3 medium onions, sliced
- 1 c. uncooked rice
- 2 c. beef stock
- 1 finely crushed bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 2 crushed garlic cloves
- 1 1/2 c. peeled and chopped tomatoes
Directions

1Cube steak into 1-inch squares.

2Cook bacon in skillet until crisp.

3Drain and put in casserole dish.

4Brown steak in bacon drippings until brown.

5Add salt and pepper; put in bacon dish. Saute onions 5 minutes; add to meat.

6In the remaining fat, brown rice, then put aside.

7Add bay leaf, thyme and garlic to meat.

8Add liquid.

9Cover.

10Bake at 325° for 1 hour.

11Cook rice and put in dish with meat.

12Add tomatoes and cook 90 minutes.
