Basic Baked Custard Recipe

  • 4 Large eggs
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 c. warm lowfat milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon grnd nutmeg
  • Minced nuts or possibly raisins (optional)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    In a 4 c. measure, stir Large eggs with a fork just to blend.

    Stir in sugar, warm lowfat milk, and vanilla.

    Place 6 (6 oz) custard c. or possibly 1 qt casserole in a large baking pan.

    Pour custard into c. or possibly dish.

    Sprinkle with nutmeg.

    Pour warm water into the larger pan to 1 inch depth.

    Bake 30 min for c. or possibly 45 min for casserole or possibly till knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

    Remove c. or possibly dish from water; cold on a wire rack, then chill.

    Serve with a sprinkle of nuts or possibly raisins.
