Basic Cheese Sauce(Low-Fat)

  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 4 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper or white pepper
  • 1 c. skim milk
  • 3/4 c. shredded American or process Swiss cheese (3 oz.)

Directions

    In a small saucepan, melt margarine.

    Stir in cornstarch and pepper; add milk.

    Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly, then cook and stir 2 minutes more.

    Add cheese, stirring to melt. Makes about 1 1/2 cups or 24 (1 tablespoon) servings.
