Basic Dinner Rolls Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Packages yeast
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. water (120 to 130 degrees)
  • 1 egg, room temp.
  • 1 c. shredded cheese (add in with egg if you like)

Directions

    In large bowl, mix 1 1/2 c. flour, sugar, salt and yeast.

    Add in butter.

    Gradually add in tap water to dry mix and beat 2 min at medium speed.

    Add in egg, cheese and 1/2 c. flour.

    Beat at high speed 2 min.

    Stir in additional flour to make a soft dough.

    Cover bowl tightly.

    Chill 2 hrs or possibly up to days.

    Punch down dough.

    Divide in half.

    Then divide each half into 12 equal pcs.

    Form into smooth round balls.

    Place in 2 greased 9 inch pans.

    Cover and let rise in hot place till double (about 1 1/2 hrs).

    Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 min.
