- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. honey
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 c. boiling water
Directions

1Cream shortening.

2Add and blend in sugar.

3Beat in honey and eggs until mixture is light.

4Mix and sift dry ingredients and add to honey mixture alternately with hot water.

5Pour into a greased 9-inch loaf pan and bake at 375° for 20 minutes.

6Reduce heat to 350° and bake for 10 to 15 minutes longer.
